Oakleaf is a perfect 5-0 against Keystone Heights since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Oakleaf Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Keystone Heights Indians at 7:00 p.m.
Oakleaf came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Bolles, falling 13-7.
Jay Arzuaga-Flores led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was JP Espinosa, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Oakleaf hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bolles struck out seven times.
Keystone Heights' found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to West Nassau on Friday. Keystone Heights had just enough and edged out Palatka 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.
Keystone Heights let Andrew Wilson and Guage Barry run wild. Wilson scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Barry scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Austin Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Keystone Heights' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of four runs across that stretch. As for Oakleaf, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oakleaf has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Keystone Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Oakleaf took their victory against Keystone Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 12-0. Will Oakleaf repeat their success, or does Keystone Heights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
