The Waldron Mohawks will head out on the road to square off against the Oldenburg Academy Twisters at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Waldron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Last Friday, Waldron narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Decatur 57-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Waldron.
Waldron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keith Settles led the charge by scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Max Jones, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Oldenburg Academy pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Hauser by a score of 60-58. Oldenburg Academy has not had much luck with Hauser recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Waldron's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Oldenburg Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Waldron didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Oldenburg Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 38-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waldron since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
