Harlandale hasn't had much luck against South San Antonio recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. Harlandale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Harlandale didn't have quite enough to beat Southside and fell 8-7.
Julia Casarez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alanah DeLeon, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, South San Antonio waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Brahmas.
Lauren Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raena Ramirez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
South San Antonio's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Harlandale, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harlandale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like South San Antonio struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
