If the Gateway Christian Warriors were feeling good off their 58-32 takedown of the Hondo Valley Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Gateway Christian fell 44-33 to To'hajiilee on Thursday.
Despite the defeat, Gateway Christian saw an underclassman step up: Grady Munson almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 steals. Munson scored a full 57.6% of Gateway Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
To'hajiilee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khyran Guerro , who scored 14 points. The matchup was Guerro 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was JayTee Nelson , who scored 11 points.
Gateway Christian now has a losing record at 1-2. As for To'hajiilee, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Gateway Christian will take on Mountainair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. To'hajiilee's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hagerman at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. One thing working in Hagerman's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
