Autauga Academy is 0-8 against Macon-East Montgomery Academy since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Autauga Academy Generals will be home for the holidays to greet the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. Autauga Academy will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, everything went Autauga Academy's way against Glenwood as Autauga Academy made off with a 58-38 win. That looming 58-38 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Autauga Academy yet this season.
Meanwhile, Macon-East Montgomery Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 65-42 walloping at the hands of Springwood. While losing is never fun, Macon-East Montgomery Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Springwood is ranked 44th).
Macon-East Montgomery Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Keagan Roney, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Jacob Johnson who scored 16 points. Roney is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.
Even though they lost, Macon-East Montgomery Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springwood only pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
The win got Autauga Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-7 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Autauga Academy came up short against Macon-East Montgomery Academy in their previous matchup back in January, falling 52-41. Thankfully for Autauga Academy, Jacob Wilson (who scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
