The Northeast Academy Eagles will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Oakwood Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Northeast Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Northeast Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Albemarle School 73-57. That's two games straight that Northeast Academy has won by exactly 16 points.
Northeast Academy found their leader in underclassman Jake Parks, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Parks hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashawn Daye, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Oakwood, who are still winless after their 13th game. They were beaten by Rocky Mount Academy 78-19 on Friday. Oakwood has struggled against Rocky Mount Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Northeast Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Oakwood, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-13.
Northeast Academy came up short against Oakwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 48-35. Can Northeast Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
