AA Region VIII recap November 5, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Bennett Winslow and Dezmond Dozier connected against Aynor. The connection went for 76 yards, the longest such play in AA Region VIII this season.
Dillon added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Waccamaw, 41-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Wildcats.
Loris's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Winslow threw for 141 and 2 touchdowns and Dozier had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Stacy Dozier chipped in 91 yards. Sigfreid Long helped Loris' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 27 yards.
Dozier was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 91 yards on 7 carries as the Lions topped the Blue Jackets. Charoldric Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 37 yards on the ground.
Loris' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Winslow has thrown for 1,188 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Ryan Bellamy has 24 catches for 366 yards.
An important game coming up in AA Region VIII this week will be when Aynor takes on Marion. At the moment, Jody Jenerette's team is in third, while the Swamp Foxes are in sixth.
Mullins made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,161 from 7,394. The improvement was the result of a 38-8 victory over Marion last week.
