After flying high against the Haysville Campus Colts on Tuesday, the Andover Central Jaguars came back down to earth. Andover Central lost to Derby at home by a decisive 58-41 margin on Friday. Andover Central has struggled against Derby recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Andover Central still got an impressive performance from Hayden Snodgrass, who scored 28 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Snodgrass scored a full 68.3% of Andover Central's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Mason, who scored 6 points along with 3 steals.
Derby can attribute much of their success to Jaden Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Destiny Smith, who scored 15 points.
Andover Central now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Derby, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andover Central will take on Andover at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three matches. As for Derby, they will head out on the road to face off against Arkansas City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Arkansas City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
