The Lakeside Panthers waltzed into their matchup Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They rang in the new year with a 73-61 victory over Glynn Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Barnes, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Reynierson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Lakeside's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Glynn Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside will square off against Effingham County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Effingham County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Glynn Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Brunswick at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th.
