The Saguaro Sabercats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Desert Mountain 78-16 at home. The result was nothing new for Saguaro, who have now won three matchups by 38 points or more so far this season.
Saguaro was led to victory by Marley Jackson and Alexa Simpson. Jackson scored 15 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists, while Simpson scored 24 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Simpson has scored at least 25% of Saguaro's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica McGadney, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
Saguaro pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Desert Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saguaro will take on Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Poston Butte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday. As for Desert Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
