The Pike Central Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Vincennes Lincoln Alices at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pike Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Vincennes Lincoln is ranked 61st).
Pike Central had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 25-20 W over Princeton on Friday. The victory was just what Pike Central needed coming off of a 70-0 defeat in their prior contest.
Among those leading the charge was Grant Boyd, who rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Vincennes Lincoln got themselves on the board against Owen Valley on Friday, but Owen Valley never followed suit. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 54-0 win over the Patriots. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Vincennes Lincoln's zero-point performance the game before.
Vincennes Lincoln got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tanner Gilbert out in front who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. BB McCrary and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Vincennes Lincoln's win.
Their wins bumped Pike Central to 2-8 and Vincennes Lincoln to 7-3.
Pike Central was dealt a bruising 56-6 loss at the hands of Vincennes Lincoln in their previous matchup back in October of 2018. Can Pike Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
