The Pearland Oilers will venture away from home to challenge the Manvel Mavericks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manvel took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pearland, who comes in off a win.
Pearland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Alvin 15-3 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Oilers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Nicholas Partida made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other pitching news, Mitchell Araujo looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.
Back at the plate, Pearland got a big performance out of Ashton Arredondo, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Arredondo has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Avalos, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Pearland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Manvel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Shadow Creek.
Manvel saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Brayden Tuiasosopo was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
Pearland has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Manvel's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Pearland took their win against Manvel in their previous meeting back in April of 2016 by a conclusive 12-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pearland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
