After losing to the Ponca Indians the last time they met, the Bloomfield Bees decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Bloomfield slipped by Ponca 54-53 on Friday.
It was another big night for Madison Abbenhaus, who scored 33 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Bloomfield's points. Another player making a difference was Kora Poppe, who scored 12 points.
Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Ponca, they bumped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elgin/Pope John at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Elgin/Pope John presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bloomfield in Nebraska (Elgin/Pope John is ranked 30th, while Bloomfield is ranked 215th). As for Ponca, they will head out on the road to face off against Wakefield on Tuesday. Wakefield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
