Baseball Recap: Halifax Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Halifax Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Landon Peoples was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Connor Hammack was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Oliver Anderson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Halifax Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Halifax Academy's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Halifax Academy will challenge Pungo Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, they will take on Cape Fear Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cape Fear Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Kerr-Vance Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
