Make it eight blowout wins for the Cambridge Academy Cougars this season. They claimed a resounding 54-21 win over Newberry Academy at home. Given Cambridge Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Newberry Academy is ranked 259th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Indya Southerland, who scored 19 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Alex Cockrell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Cambridge Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Newberry Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Cambridge Academy will head out on the road to take on New Covenant School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Covenant School is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games. As for Newberry Academy, they will be playing at home against Wardlaw Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
