Baseball Recap: Leflore's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Leflore waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes as they made off with a 13-2 victory. While the Savages didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tristian Wheat made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tucker Morton was a standout: he scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Morton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Justice Reineman was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.

Leflore's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Buffalo Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leflore will host McCurtain at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Buffalo Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitesboro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
