The Denver Academy of Torah Wolves entered their tilt with the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Denver Academy of Torah was the clear victor by a 57-37 margin over the Eagles.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denver Academy of Torah to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ami Gelman, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gelman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ben Kahn-Rose, who scored ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Rocky Mountain Lutheran lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Borchardt. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 23 rebounds. Borchardt is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Abraham Rivas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Rocky Mountain Lutheran were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The win got Denver Academy of Torah back to even at 6-6. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Denver Academy of Torah is on the road again on Monday and plays the at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Varsity Opponent will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Rocky Mountain Lutheran will take on the Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
