The Creekview Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Highland Park Scots at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Creekview, who comes in off a win.
Creekview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Newman Smith an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Kelis Lee was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Lee was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn Olsen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Isaella Mandujano was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Creekview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Highland Park was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to Reedy. The loss continues a trend for the Scots in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.
Maryn Muntz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Highland Park's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Creekview, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Creekview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Highland Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Creekview suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Highland Park when the teams last played on March 3rd. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
