Clewiston had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Moore Haven Terriers, falling 21-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Terriers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 back in March.
Clewiston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for Moore Haven, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
On Moore Haven's side, Preslynn Baker and Brooklyn Sergent made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Baker pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sergent tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Baker went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Sergent went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Moore Haven got a massive performance out of JoEllen Erskin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Erskin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Neska Blissett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Looking ahead, Clewiston will face off against Suncoast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Moore Haven, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Carroll Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Terriers surely won't give up without a fight.
