The Ulysses Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past Scott with a 45-41 victory. This was payback for Ulysses, who suffered a 71-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Alex Tarango and Jackson Rumford certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Tarango scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Rumford scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tarango has scored all season.
Ulysses' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Scott, they dropped their record down to 8-7 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ulysses will square off against the Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Scott's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Broncs at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Lakin will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
