The Cocke County Fighting Cocks won against the Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans last Friday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Cocke County came out on top in a nail-biter against Morristown-Hamblen West and snuck past 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cocke County was led to victory by Karmine Carmichael and Halle Kitchen. Carmichael scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Kitchen scored 15 points along with three steals. Carmichael is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Blakelyn Clevenger was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Cocke County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Cocke County and Upperman will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Upperman presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cocke County in Tennessee (Upperman is ranked sixth, while Cocke County is ranked 69th). As for Morristown-Hamblen West, they will square off against Jackson South Side at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jackson South Side is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
