The DeMatha Stags will challenge the Annapolis Area Christian Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
DeMatha took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Gilman get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Stags have beaten the Greyhounds the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Greyhounds has come to flipping the script.
Colin Lappin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dominic Calabrese, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Shawn Clark was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Annapolis Area Christian). They blew past Loyola Blakefield 10-0 on Tuesday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Annapolis Area Christian let Evan Chojnowski and Eli Cobb run wild. Chojnowski went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Cobb went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Chojnowski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Cobb, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Annapolis Area Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loyola Blakefield only posted a batting average of .167.
The victory got Annapolis Area Christian back to even at 2-2. As for DeMatha, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went DeMatha's way against Annapolis Area Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as DeMatha made off with a 9-0 victory. Do the Stags have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
