The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 59-51 to Zion Chapel. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pike Liberal Arts in their matchups with Zion Chapel: they've now lost five in a row.
Jacob Chestnut was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with five steals for Zion Chapel. Chestnut has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Grantham, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Pike Liberal Arts has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season. As for Zion Chapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pike Liberal Arts will take on Luverne at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Zion Chapel, Zion Chapel and New Brockton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
