Bowsher is a perfect 10-0 against Rogers since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The BlueRacers will host the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Bowsher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
While Bowsher's win against Lima Senior wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The BlueRacers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Spartans 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the BlueRacers have posted since May 6, 2024.
Bowsher's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Schropp, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Connor Corley was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Rogers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Waite on Monday as they made off with a 9-2 win.
Dawson Davenport was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those 18 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Rogers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Hendrick, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Da'Marion Allen-Gabriel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Rogers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bowsher's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Rogers, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bowsher has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rogers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bowsher took their win against Rogers in their previous matchup on April 7th by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the BlueRacers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
