The nation’s second-longest win streak will return for at least another week. And the operative word here is return.

Phoebus (Hampton, Va.) received a pair of long returns by
Breon Key to post a 37-12 win over arch-rival
Hampton in a battle of Virginia’s top two ranked and undefeated teams.
Key keyed the victory with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter and followed with a 90-yard punt return for a score in the fourth quarter.
Phoebus, No. 10 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, has now won 38 straight games including eight in a row to start the 2010 season.
The Crabbers – that’s right, the Crabbers – dropped to 7-1. They had come into the game having outscored foes 346-33.
“They whipped us,” Hampton coach Mike Smith told dailypress.com.
According to the newspaper, Hampton actually outgained Phoebus 250-181 however it gave up 244 return yards.
Phoebus also did a great job containing dangerous Hampton quarterback
David Watford, who was just 6-for-18 and finished with 125 total yards.
The winners took control with touchdown passes of 17 yards and 27 yards to
Daquan Romero and
Tyree Lee to take a 24-6 halftime lead.
When Key opened the second half with his kickoff return for touchdown, this one was over.

For good measure, he showed off his speed and return abilities with a season-best 90-yard return in the fourth quarter.
Most returners let the ball bounce into the end zone inside the 10, but Key has a supreme confidence. He showed off his elusiveness and speed on the return, which capped off a decisive victory.
This is the sixth straight game that the game between the Hampton rivals has been a lopsided score.
Curtis (River Ridge, La.) 34, St. Charles Catholic 20Torrey Pierce rushed 24 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns and
Brandon Bourgeois added 10 carries for 106 yards as Curtis rolled to a big home victory.
Curtis rushed a remarkable 60 times in the game for 393 yards and totaled 429 yards overall.
Duke Riley had 14 tackles to lead the defense.
It was the seventh time Curtis has defeated St. Charles since 2005. Last season Curtis eliminated St. Charles 27-0 in the state 2A semifinals.
Curtis improved to 7-1, the same mark as St. Charles.
Allen (Texas) 30, Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas) 14According to the Dallas Morning News, Alec Morris threw for 265 yards and a score and rushed for a touchdown and Jonathan Williams rushed for 109 yards and another score for the winners.
The story of the game was Allen’s defense, which held in check the prolific Marcus offense that came in averaging 40 points per game, starting tailback
Rufus Mason (1,233 yards, 16 TDs) and quarterback
Deion Sanders Jr.
But Allen (8-0) held Mason and Dagan Newsom out of the end zone, though they did combine for 209 yards.
Sanders didn’t complete his first pass until the fourth quarter. Marcus dropped to 6-2.
Alemany (Mission Hills, Calif.) 28, Crespi 17According to the Los Angeles Times,
Vernon Adams completed 14 of 17 for 262 yards and three touchdowns, leading Alemany (8-0) to the victory over now reeling Crespi (5-3), which lost last week to Bishop Amat.
Besides Adams’ passing expertise, he also made an acrobatic 9-yard TD run in the
first quarter.
The victory keeps Alemany’s dream season going which includes a 23-20 win over Oaks Christian.
Saladin McCullough caught touchdown passes of 9 and 76 yards for the winners. Alemany’s defensive backs were stellar, holding UCLA-commit Devin Lucien to three catches. He came in with 13 TD receptions.
