It was a good run, but the Emery Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Delta. The contest was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Emery was outscored by Delta in the second.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wade Stilson, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Stilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Justice, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Delta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bronco Bundy, who scored 20 points. Bundy's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Marcus Chase, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Emery's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Delta, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emery will take on Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Richfield is ranked 44th, while Emery is ranked 46th). Delta won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Carbon is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
