Megan Lampos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mykenna Sturino was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Plapp, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Westosha Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Waterford entered their tilt with Badger on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Badgers a 6-0 shutout.
Like Westosha Central, Waterford also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaydin Kiser. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, Kiser is now averaging an impressive 6.8 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Kiser wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cailyn Kysely, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Kendall Evjen also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Westosha Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Waterford, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westosha Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Waterford struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westosha Central took their victory against Waterford in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 9-0 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
