After two games on the road, Silverdale Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Silverdale Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Boyd-Buchanan likes a good challenge.
Silverdale Academy put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Grace Baptist Academy 74-29 on the road. With Silverdale Academy ahead 53-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Brett Wright was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. Kennedy Okpara was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Boyd-Buchanan fought the good fight in their overtime game against Silverdale Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to the Seahawks. Boyd-Buchanan's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Silverdale Academy pushed their record up to 23-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Boyd-Buchanan, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.
Silverdale Academy barely slipped by Boyd-Buchanan in their previous meeting on Monday, winning 65-64. Does Silverdale Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Boyd-Buchanan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
