Dover is 1-9 against Cape Henlopen since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Dover Senators will head out on the road to take on the Cape Henlopen Vikings at 6:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dover only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 35-point they dealt Milford on Thursday. Dover blew past Milford, posting a 60-25 victory on the road. Given Dover's advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Milford is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Cape Henlopen had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 60-36 margin over Caesar Rodney. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Cape Henlopen just coasted through the last quarter.
Amalia Fruchtman was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Faith Re was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Dover and bumps their season record up to 9-1. As for Cape Henlopen, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Dover didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Cape Henlopen in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-44 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fruchtman, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Dover still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
