1A Region 4 recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Talladega County Central, who defeated 326th ranked Fayetteville, 38-18.
St. Jude Educational Institute added to the longest winning streak in 1A Region 4 this week by beating Verbena, 60-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Notasulga's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Robert Surge threw for 34 yards and Anfernee Dukes had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Dukes chipped in 109 yards.
Dukes provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Blue Devils topped Winterboro.
Surge put up the best numbers in passing as Notasulga beat the Bulldogs.
James Lucas' team's Surge and Aurick Cloud led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Surge has thrown for 451 yards this season, while Cloud has 19 catches for 275 yards. The Wolves' Dustin Ingram leads the league in rushing yards with 1,000.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Fayetteville takes on St. Jude Educational Institute. At the moment, John Limbaugh's team is in third, while Fred Brock's team is in second.
The Fighting Tigers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,492 from 12,051. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 38-18 victory over the Wolves last week.
