There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Edna Karr and Easton.
Can't Touch This
Notre Dame's 55 - 19 win over Lake Arthur last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Noah Bourgeois. Bourgeois ran for 144 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance made Bourgeois one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Edna Karr (5th in the power rankings) and Easton (6th) did not disappoint. Edna Karr won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Easton 21 - 20. Edna Karr and Easton were a much more even match than Edna Karr's previous opponent, giving the fans a heck of a game.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 75-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Catholic-B.R. picked up a decisive 'W' against Broadmoor, finishing up at 55 - 20. Catholic-B.R. was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Holy Cross (23rd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and St. Augustine (35th). Holy Cross will be strutting in after a win while St. Augustine will be stumbling in from a defeat. We'll see if Holy Cross can add another positive mark to its record or if St. Augustine can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Holy Cross's step.
