Albuquerque hasn't had much luck against Los Lunas recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. The last four games Albuquerque has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Albuquerque needed a bit of extra time to put away West Mesa. They had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.
Jude Williams looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Maximo Granados was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Albuquerque: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Abran Vigil, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.
Albuquerque kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 13.6.
Meanwhile, Los Lunas faced Rio Grande in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ravens, sneaking past 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Los Lunas let Allen Galaviz and Mark Scime run wild. Galaviz scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Scime scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Los Lunas' victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Albuquerque, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Albuquerque couldn't quite get it done against Los Lunas when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
