The Floresville Tigers lost against the Katy Taylor Mustangs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Floresville was outmatched by Katy Taylor on the road and fell 60-31. Floresville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-17.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordin Johns, who scored nine points. Johns scored a full 29% of Floresville's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissa Hilario, who scored five points along with three steals.
Floresville has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Katy Taylor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floresville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Uvalde at 1:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Uvalde is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Katy Taylor, they will head out on the road to face off against Paetow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paetow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 600th, while Katy Taylor is ranked 70th).
