At the plate, Maura Carmody was a standout: she fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Elyssa Hasapis was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Oak Park-River Forest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Downers Grove North came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Tigers.
Jenna Gordon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Gordon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mia Havrilla was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Samantha Lehnherr, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Oak Park-River Forest's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Downers Grove North, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Downers Grove North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oak Park-River Forest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. It's a different story for Downers Grove North, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Oak Park-River Forest's hitters?
