The Loyd Star Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the West Lincoln Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Loyd Star is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Last Friday, Loyd Star sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 23-21 victory over Bogue Chitto.
It was another big night for Jordyn Kees, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Kees is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Jaden Lea and his 92 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Loyd Star's win.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but West Lincoln had to settle for a 30-27 loss against Wilkinson County on Friday. West Lincoln has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Loyd Star's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.7 points per game. West Lincoln has not been sharp this season, as they've lost six of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 2-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Loyd Star against West Lincoln in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 54-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyd Star since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
