2A-2 Region II District 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rio Vista, who took down 773rd ranked Blooming Grove, 44-30.
Mildred extended the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region II District 6 this week by beating Life Oak Cliff, 72-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Mildred's dynamic duo of Nic Shimonek and DRAYLON STERLING proved tough for the Lions to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Shimonek threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns and STERLING had 54 yards receiving. RALEIGH SEILHEIMER helped Mildred's passing attack out by catching three balls for 54 yards.
Ragan Henderson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 142 yards as Rice defeated Life Oak Cliff. Teammate Angel Oropeza added to the ground attack by rushing for 10 yards.
The Eagles' Shimonek and MIKEY MUNCY have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shimonek has thrown for 1735 yards this season, while MUNCY, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 28 catches for 581 yards. Henderson from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 1621 yards.
A big matchup in 2A-2 Region II District 6 this week will be when Mildred takes on Scurry-Rosser. At the moment, the Eagles are in first, while the Wildcats are in sixth.
The Eagles moved up to 1,024 from 1,052 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Rio Vista was able to make move up by topping the Lions 44-30.
