The San Marcos Rattlers were the 51-38 winner over the Clemens Buffaloes when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. San Marcos took a 56-39 bruising from Clemens on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points San Marcos has scored all season.
San Marcos' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zyair Jolivette, who scored 12 points along with five steals, and Donavan Riddick who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Jolivette is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Ory Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
San Marcos' defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Clemens, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos will challenge Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Steele will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Clemens, they will head out on the road to take on Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Judson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Clemens is ranked 39th).
