The high school football season in Rhode Island has come to a close.
La Salle Academy (Providence) beating
Bishop Hendricken (Warwick) in the Division I state championship game helped propel the Rams to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.
Led by MaxPreps Rhode Island Football Player of the Year
Dean Varrecchione, La Salle Academy rebounded from a 10-9 loss to the Hawks earlier in the year to upend Bishop Hendricken 38-29 and grab the school's first state football title since 2017. With the bounceback win, Geoff Marcone's club earned La Salle Academy's 18th state football title.
Bishop Hendricken finished No. 2 in the final rankings.
