After five games on the road, Wooster is heading back home. They will take on the Churchill County Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Wooster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 25 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 67-42 margin over Dayton.
Jamal Gaitor was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Wooster's points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Martinez-gil, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, Churchill County blew past Valley, posting a 71-44 win on the road. Given Churchill County's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 50th in Nevada, while Valley is ranked 1144th in California), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Churchill County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trevor Hyde, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calin Anderson, who scored 13 points.
Their wins bumped Wooster to 4-1 and Dayton to 2-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Wooster and Churchill County are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Wooster hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 56.6 points per game. It's a different story for Churchill County, though, as they've been averaging only 58.3 per game.
