Windsor Locks is 2-7 against Ellington since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Raiders will welcome the Knights at 3:45 p.m.
Windsor Locks came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-5 to Canton.
Caitlin Van Neil made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Maltese, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Ellington won against Rockville on Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Everything went the Knights' way against Somers as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Tyla Gambacorta made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Ellington let Taylor Havener and Madison Havener run wild. Taylor went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Madison went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Taylor has posted since back in April of 2025. Emmalyn Thorpe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Ellington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Ellington's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Windsor Locks, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Windsor Locks suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Ellington in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
