The biggest upset of the week belonged to Norfolk Academy, who took down 159th ranked Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, 16-8.
The Bulldogs moved up to 174 from 237 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in VISFA Tidewater. Norfolk Academy was able to make the jump by defeating the Saints 16-8.
Hampton Roads Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tim Leavey threw for 137 and one touchdown and Quincy Mock had 110 yards receiving. On the ground Mock chipped in 255 yards. Bruce Jackson helped Hampton Roads Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.
Greenbrier Christian Academy's Josh Miller and Bryce Myers have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 690 yards this season, while Myers, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 18 catches for 471 yards. The Navigators' Mock leads the league in rushing yards with 1169.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Steve Monninger's team takes on Norfolk Christian. The Bulldogs are currently in first, while the Ambassadors are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Gators and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Greenbrier Christian Academy comes in having scored 227 this season, while Lew Johnston's team has scored 209. Donnie Simpson's team scored 29 points last week as it lost to Bishop Sullivan Catholic.
Norfolk Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in VISFA Tidewater. Earlier in the week, Heath Gibbs' team triumphed over Portsmouth Christian 41-10.
