If the MaxPreps national rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Williams. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Fredonia at 7:00 PM. Fredonia will need to watch out since Williams have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Williams and Mogollon -- ranked 12th and 43rd in the MaxPreps national rankings, respectively -- squared off last Friday in a high-profile match. Williams came out on top in a nail-biter against Mogollon, sneaking past 42-40. No one put up better numbers for Williams than junior Chance Pearson, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact, with 13 tackles Pearson was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, if Fredonia were riding high off their 36-8 takedown of Mohave Accelerated three weeks ago, that ride came to an abrupt end. Fredonia were completely outmatched, falling 6-55 to Mogollon. Fredonia's low-scoring defeat was the unsatisfying follow-up to their high-scoring outing the contest before.
Everything came up roses for Williams against Fredonia the last time the two teams met as the team secured a 57-0 win. Will Williams repeat their success, or does Fredonia have a better game plan this time around ? We'll find out soon enough.
