The Charleston Math & Science Riptide's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 89-25 loss at the hands of Military Magnet Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Charleston Math & Science in their matchups with Military Magnet Academy: they've now lost nine in a row.
Military Magnet Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dream Watson, who scored 21 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. Watson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Willis, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds.
Charleston Math & Science dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Military Magnet Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston Math & Science will challenge St. John's at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John's is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Military Magnet Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lowcountry Leadership at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
