It was a good run, but the Covenant Christian Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 83-40 loss at the hands of Trinity Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Covenant Christian has scored all season.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Boughton, who scored 15 points. Aaron Turner was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Covenant Christian's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Trinity Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.
Covenant Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Midland Classical Academy at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Midland Classical Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1157th, while Covenant Christian is ranked 131st). Trinity Christian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Midland Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Midland Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
