The Camarillo Scorpions are taking a road trip to take on the Moorpark Musketeers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Camarillo barely beat Buena the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Camarillo blew past Buena 10-4 on Thursday. The Scorpions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Andrew Aragon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Travis Wade was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corsten Victoria, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Moorpark was able to grind out a solid win over Ventura on Saturday, taking the game 5-1.
Ronan O'Connell tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Moorpark's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Moorpark saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Nickels, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Taylor Busch also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
The victory got Moorpark back to even at 5-5. As for Camarillo, their record is now 4-9.
Camarillo came out on top in a nail-biter against Moorpark when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Camarillo since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
