Rialto hasn't had much luck against Colton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Yellowjackets at 3:45 p.m.
Rialto easily dispatched Bloomington on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Knights fell just short of Eisenhower by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Delilah Munoz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Colton came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Saints a 13-0 shutout. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
JASMINE CHACON looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, VALERIE VARELA was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. NATALIE CALDERA also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Colton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive games.
Colton's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Rialto, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rialto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Colton struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rialto came up short against Colton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
