Hackett Catholic Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight  defeat. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fennville Blackhawks.

 Ellie Kling was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She  struck out 14 batters over  6.1 innings while giving up  four earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Meredith Chenier was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. That  triple was  her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Avery Doerr, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
Hackett Catholic Prep's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Fennville, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-14.
