South Iredell barely beat Cox Mill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Chargers 9-3 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brendan Blankenship looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, South Iredell got a big performance out of Reid Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Hughesman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
South Iredell has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Cox Mill, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-15.
