The New Deal Lions will square off against the Cisco Loboes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Deal will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only New Deal walked away with it. They really took it to West Texas for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-0 victory on the road. Considering New Deal has won four matches by more than 34 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
New Deal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Pierre Vasquez, who rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Vasquez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Martin, who rushed for 69 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries.
Another reason for the win was New Deal's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Tyler Nunes was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Cisco beat Ozona 21-14 on Friday.
Their wins bumped New Deal to 8-3 and Cisco to 5-6.
New Deal lost to Cisco on the road by a decisive 33-14 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can New Deal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
