The Hoover Huskies couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 60-32 defeat at the hands of Chapmanville Regional on Thursday. Hoover lost against Chapmanville Regional in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-50 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Hoover saw an underclassman step up: Ayva Veltri scored 13 points.
Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Chapmanville Regional, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will square off against Midland Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chapmanville Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
